   ANIME COMIC

Cowboy Bebop Film Manga 1
ISBN1-59409-532-9 /BANDAI entertainment 2006US$10.99
Every CB fans longed for an anime-comic of TV season. But in Japan, it's hopeless. When I found this English anime-comic of Cowboy Bebop, I couldn't believe my eyes, and after a second, I was fully delifhted. This book contains session 1 and session 2. In the USA, they senscored each graphics, removed the blood and covered some nudity before they aired CB anime. This comics has all of them as you can watch in DVDs. Probably, this is the cause of this book's being rated "13 up".

   ANIME GUIDE

COWBOY BEBOP ANIME GUIDE 1
ISBN1-931514-84-4 /TOKYOPOP February 2002US$12.99
This book is English edition of "NEWTYPE FILM BOOK "COWBOY BEBOP COMPLETE TYPE I". Different from the Japanese version, this book is an uncovered paperback. The cover art is taken from the fold out mini poster, showing almost the whole body of the character, however, the Japanese book has only the face of the character as the cover art. The contents are almost all of the contents of the Japanese book (terrific!) and I was amazed that they did a perfect layout for the color pages! Usually, a Japanese comic is printed in the reversed layout --- right handed person in the Japanese version becomes left-handed in English edition. However, in this CB Anime Guide didn't reverse the pages, nor each pictures! They did their best to place each pictures in order of the storyline, and their works are excellent! Still, I could see that some letters and all the pictures are rather blurred than the same things in the Japanese editions. And the staff list shows only the main staff and the voice actors to the main characters, besides, the Japanese edition has more detailed information. There is one thing exclusive for the English edition --- the lyrics to The Real Folk Blues in romaji.

COWBOY BEBOP ANIME GUIDE 2
ISBN1-931514-85-2 /TOKYOPOP February 2002US$12.99
This book is English edition of "NEWTYPE FILM BOOK "COWBOY BEBOP COMPLETE TYPE II"". It has almost all the contents of the Japanese edition like CB Anime Guide I, however, they did reverse the blac and white pages, and the blurred lines of the drawings don't look good. In the last part of this book, there is an advertisement of Cartoon Network, using the illustration by Yutaka Nanten. It is exclusive for the English edition.

COWBOY BEBOP ANIME GUIDE 3
ISBN1-931514-86-0 /TOKYOPOP March 2002US$12.99
This book is English edition of "NEWTYPE FILM BOOK "COWBOY BEBOP COMPLETE TYPE III"". Just like other two anime guides, this book did an excellent work to reproduce the Japanese book. The original Japanese books have each theme colors in the cover artworks, i.e., the first book has silver color, the second book has gold color, and the third book has light crimson. These English books have their own theme colors for the cover arts, that is, the first books has blue color for the front cover and the back cover, the second book has red color, and the third book has light green-yellow. By the way, here I talk how I got those books. I found them at the Japanese site of Amazon.com, www.amazon.co.jp. I ordered three books at the same time, and they delivered the books one by one, since I asked them to send the books in the order of arrival. So, I got the second book first, then I got the first book, and I got the third book about two weeks after I got the second book.

COWBOY BEBOP ANIME GUIDE 4
ISBN1-931514-08-9 /TOKYOPOP April 2002US$12.99
This book is English edition of "NEWTYPE FILM BOOK "COWBOY BEBOP COMPLETE TYPE IV". Comparing with other three English volumes, this book is finished in good condition. The lines of drawings in the art file pages are as clear as in the original Japanese version. TOKYOPOP did a good job. This book has the planet guide and the characters file, which a Cowboy Bebop fan must to read.

COWBOY BEBOP ANIME GUIDE 5
ISBN1-59182-022-7 /TOKYOPOP 2002年6月US$12.99
This book is the English edition of "NEWTYPE FILM BOOK "COWBOY BEBOP COMPLETE TYPE V". Just as the previous four books, they scanned the original Japanese book and re-arranged the pictures in each pages to make this edition. As for the number of each pages, in original Japanese books, they wrote the numbers on the black-outlined diamon-shaped space at the bottom of each pages. Besides, in the English edition, they covered the diamond-shaped space with a oval-shaped space, and wrote the numbers on it.

COWBOY BEBOP ANIME GUIDE 6
ISBN1-59182-023-5 /TOKYOPOP September 2002US$12.99
This book is the English edition of "NEWTYPE FILM BOOK "COWBOY BEBOP COMPLETE TYPE VI". This books has things which aren't in the original Japanese book. One is the message in the page 78. Another one is the message to Spike from Julia, which is written on the back cover of the book. It seems to me that TOKYO POP did a very good job to make their editions on their own ideas.

Art by Cain Kuga

Cowboy Bebop : Shooting Star 1
ISBN1-59182-297-1/TOKYOPOPApril 2003US$9.99
Story and Art by Cain Kuga / Original concept by Hajime Yatate
In Japan, Cain Kuga's comic was the first comic for Cowboy Bebop. Actually, it started six month ealier than Cowoby Bebop TV anime. In other words, this manga is the first stuff among all Cowboy Bebop media, however, the Japanese title for this comic wasn't "Cowboy Bebop" but "Shooting Star Bebop". Thus, this comic has the title "- shooting star -" along with "Cowboy Bebop". I hear that Sunrise first gave "Shooting Star Bebop" as the title for their new SF anime of the space bounty hunters.

Cowboy Bebop : Shooting Star 2
ISBN1-59182-298-X/TOKYOPOPJune 2003US$9.99
Story and Art by Cain Kuga / Original concept by Hajime Yatate
The editor of monthly Fantasy Delux had chosen Cain Kuga as the artist for the first Cowboy Bebop manga, because there were few manga artist who could drew macho man with bald head. I admit that Cain drew Jet very well, but other characters, especially Spike, were far different from them in TV anime. Sunrise gave the artist the plans and designs for TV anime, but let Cain Kuga write this comic on the her free mind. Thus the storyline and the backgrounds of each charcters are far different from TV anime.
